About Me:

I am a crazy college chick, looking for a good time and an even better grade.

I am in a junior college for the next semester and a half. Once that's over, I'll be that much closer to getting an english degree! Not that I really need one to be a writer, but it'd be nice to have.

touchy touchy

I just got told by an article that my generation, otherwise known as the kids old enough to go to college, is the most self-centered generation since they began the study in 1982. They're calling us the 'ME' generation.

Who else is insulted and slighty inclined towards hate mail?

It's one thing to look at people in the face and tell them they're self-centered and not have any healthy relationships as a result of being built up "self-esteem"-wize by society, but it's a completely different thing to continue by saying there's no hope to "save" the Me-generation from themselves. Oh yippie! Me and all my friends are lost causes!

I'm serious, the only 'remedy' the article discusses is to avoid future 'me' generations by not telling children that they're special... WHAT??? I'm not going to sit here and say that there's nothing wrong with the world, but I will say that every generation has it's problems. Wanna know what I think about the generation that's currently judging us? They took a look at the world and said "I think I'll try to play God and figure out whats wrong with everyone else"

Atleast MY generation is too concerned with themselves to bother figuring out other people's problems.

:) I dont feel so insulted anymore

lookin on

It's a great day of discovery for me: I've finally figured out what it is about the Revenge of the Dixie Chicks offends me. (that should be a horror movie. It would scare me.) That's right, everyone had their shot at Dixie Chicks, and now it's my turn, but it's not for the reasons you might think. Here goes:

I never liked the Dixie Chicks. Not ever. It wasn't only that I am and was anti-country, it's also that they allways seemed kinda uppity to me, a little too girlie, you know? So, I discounted them from the beginning. Then the whole thing about their anti-Bush speech to France came about. In response, I chuckled a bit, and never spoke nor thought of it again. Why should I care what some trio of biatches think, especially when I don't even care about the trio in the first place? In fact, I dont remember anyone around me caring much. They didn't much like country either.

Then the girls come back, with a vengence. (seriously, I didn't even realize they'd been gone) Here's where I get offended. They write a song about how they've been persecuted, and hated on, and attacked for speaking their beliefs. Wait a minute, Dixie Chicks, you're singing like I care. I'm offended that such a thing could be assumed. Particularly when I never cared. I think i'm so offended that I'm going to boycott the Dixie Chicks. :):):)

hershey's kiss of truth

What makes something true?

I can easily define a lie. It's simply not the truth. But then what is truth? Something that is not a lie? No, I won't accept those runaround answers. The dictionary can't help me here.

Growing up, I was given the impression that everything is questionable except democracy, the bible, and what adults say. In two decades, I have witneesed the decay of my faith in the three "unquestionables". The Bible isn't the word of God, it's the interpretation of centuries and centuries of man's translations. And it's not exactly the most clear text out on the market, I don't care what "contemporary bible" you find. It's just one more translation, one more chance to be wrong. What about democracy? Well, I don't think I have to delve too deeply into that (it could take too long), but what I will say is that some ideas get outmoded. Then for adults, I technically am one now and I as sure as hell can lie, and probably have to children. It makes me realize that there is nothing unquestionable, and therefore there isn't anything that is completely "true".

Truth can't be the ultimate, unshakable tower that dictionaries spell it out to be.

What's brought me to this conclusion is something that I happened to remember last night while doing a few prompts to ring in the new year. I had a lot of "story telling" (lying) practice in middle school. I remember one gullible friend in particular. I had her thinking I was a Witch and could do magic. Whether I believed it myself or not, well I don't know about that. Usually when i told a lie like that it was a sort of wish fulfillment. Anyways, I had her going. One night we might have delved a little too deeply into my lie. I don't know, but some things happened that I must not have expected to happen, because I was more astonished by them than she was. You see, she wasn't awed by the events because to her it was only a further testament to what I'd been talking about all along. To me, it was my elaborate story gone ary. To her, though, it was the truth, and it was confirmed. So is truth only a matter of who percieves it?

I'm not sure. I've never professed to be one who is trustworthy, for I surely am not; however, I have seen sincerity. That is the closest to truth I think I'm going to get.

words are all I have

So it’s the last day of 2006. Whoopdie-do.

To celebrate such an occasion, I have so far woken up at 4:00 am to escort my sister to the airport and bid them fairwell, then went back to sleep till just a few minutes ago. Now I’m eating toast, and writing my blog out on appleworks because my internet is on the frits. See? 2006 and I didn’t get along to such an extent that I can’t even get online to post my annual “farewell party” thing that I have. (the last two years it was on my livejournal blog)

What did 2006 do for me?

(I just realized that I’ve been putting 2005 this entire time. Wow, wrong time to start getting used to what year it is.)

Not much. No life-rocking romances, no "best days of my life", no frikken awesome parties/friends, and no finished books. Nothing at all, really.

But you know, each year I use my farewell post to curse the current year and radiate hope for the coming one. True the past two or three years haven't been the greatest for me, but I see where my logic goes sour. I expect the year to just turn up good, without me doing much about it. That's what happened this year particularly. All I kind of did, all I've ever done, is go with the flow. My new hope for 2007, more of a resolution, is to make it a good year.

So long, 2006. The word for you is "baby" because taking care of my niece was the best part of it, and most memorable by far. See ya.
